Job Opening - Database Technology Writer

As an adventurous Database Technology Writer, you will work with our PR team, engineers and database users to improve our documentation and increase awareness and understanding of the MonetDB portfolio. You will work on a range of activities including but not limited to:

 

• MonetDB documentation

  • Write high-impact documentation for all parts of the data science and data engineering lifecycle (revision and improvement of the overall structure)

  • Edit content contributed by those working in database engineering and the wider field, for technical accuracy

  • Create user-oriented tutorials (both textual guides and short video tutorials)
     

• Technology articles for our community of database users, research partners and future collaborators

  • Develop ‘How to’ guides for use of MonetDB features

  • Prepare benchmark comparisons between DBMSs

  • Draft white papers
     

• Social media 

  • Create engaging posts 

  • Create scripts and storyboards for videos

  • Work with product marketing teams to shape messaging and strategy

  • Bring your own creative ideas ;)

We get excited when we meet people with the following skills and attributes:

• Creativity 

• Excellent written and verbal English skills 

• Technical background to allow for quick learning and understanding of bleeding-edge big data tools

• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases

• Obsession with technical accuracy and attention to detail

• Experience with DB benchmarks

• Experience with operating systems (e.g. Linux, Mac OS and Windows)

Bonus skills

• Knowledge of user experience basics and an eye for design

• First language English users or equivalent

• Video editing experience
